Our Activities

The Alderney Shooting Club is just one more example of the island’s thriving sports and leisure facilities that are available to islanders and visitors alike.

Disciplines offered include, clay pigeon shooting, target pistol & rifle shooting (rimfire and full-bore) and archery.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

We offer a range of clay shooting traps, suitable for novices through to experienced shooters.

We are open on Sunday mornings from 09:45 until 12:00 and have club guns and ear defenders available if you are visiting Alderney.

Pistol Shooting

We offer various pistol target disciplines including rimfire and centrefire at 10m and 25m.

All members must apply to undergo certification through the Beginners Pistol course or provide proof of current accreditation at another approved club before being permitted to attend Members Only 10m/25m Target disciplines.

Rifle Shooting

We offer various target disciplines including rimfire and centrefire.

Due to the small size of Alderney and the fact that we are located within the walls of a Victorian fort we have a limited variety of ranges:
• 25m / 50m / 100m Target Rifle.

All members must apply to undergo certification through the Beginners Rifle course or provide proof of current accreditation at another approved club before being permitted to attend Members Only 25m, 50m and 100m Target disciplines.

• Beginners Target Rifle Adults (18+) £20, Juniors (12-17) £15.
• Members Target Rifle Range Fee £5.
• Certified Visitor Target Rifle Range Fee £10.

Archery

We offer both recurve and compound disciplines at various distances subject to availability of volunteer trainers and safety officers on Sunday afternoons between 14:00 and 16:30.

GROUP & CORPORATE BOOKINGS

We can tailor group, corporate and charity events to your needs. All events are priced to be inclusive of range safety offers, ammunition, safety gear, tuition and club firearms. We can also offer team building competitions/challenges and basic refreshments at cost.

Examples include:

Clay Pigeon - £15 to £30 per person
• Up to 20 attendees per session.
• One-to-one instruction on the firing point.
• Suitable for beginner to intermediate shooters.
• You can choose between:
- 25 shots/clays per attendee (£15)
- 50 shots/clays per attendee (£30)
• Event lasts between 2-3 hours depending on number of attendees and shots selected.
• Range Safety Officers can score each shooter or team so that you can award prizes accordingly if desired as part of a team event.

Target Pistol or Rifle - £15 per person
• Up to 4 attendees per 60 minutes.
• One-to-one instruction on the firing point.
• Suitable for beginner to intermediate shooters.
• Pistol or rifle selection will be at discretion of Range Safety Officer and based on weather conditions.
• Range Safety Officers can score each shooter or team so that you can award prizes accordingly if desired as part of a team event.

Mixed Circuit – both disciplines - £30 per person
• Up to 16 attendees per session.
• Combination of option 1 and 2 – ideal for larger groups (10+)
• 25 shots clay pigeon plus target pistol or rifle session for each group of 4.
• One-to-one instruction on the firing point.
• Pistol or rifle selection will be at discretion of Range Safety Officer and based on weather conditions.
• Range Safety Officers can score each shooter or team so that you can award prizes accordingly if desired as part of a team event.
• Event duration is 3-4 hours and participants are split into separate groups/teams for simultaneous sessions.

Registration

48-hour prior-booking and registration is essential via info@alderneyshootingclub.com

  1. Please arrive 10 minutes before your booked starting time to complete registration, you will be required to show membership or photo ID e.g., driver’s license or passport.
  2. A range safety officer will meet you in the fort (pass the red flag and go over the drawbridge) The entrance gate will then be locked at the start of the booked starting time and will remain so for the duration of the appointment except for emergencies.
  3. You are advised to leave your vehicle parked just outside the fort as the surfaces inside the fort are not suitable for road traffic.
  4. There are no amenities / toilets in the fort.
  5. You are advised to wear practical weatherproof clothing and footwear – no flip flops, high-heels nor loose-fitting shoes/sandals.
  6. In the event of severe weather conditions, the event may be cancelled. In the event of cancellation by the club due to weather we will notify you on the contact details you have provided when booking.
  7. If you wish to cancel, we request you give us at least 2 hours’ notice prior to the event starting time.
  8. Payment is at the fort during registration and is cash only, thank you.

FAQ

Yes, there is plenty of space for parking outside the fort. You are advised to leave your vehicle parked just outside the fort as the surfaces inside the fort are not suitable for road traffic.

Yes, you can but our range officers may wish to check it meets minimum requirements before you commence shooting.

You will not be charged for the session. In the event of a group or corporate booking you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.

We accept any recognised government issued photo ID. For juniors a family passport will usually suffice.

Subject to certification of the shooter and the relevant training courses we offer most forms of pistol such as 22LR rimfire and higher calibres such as 38SPL, 9MM and 45ACP. We also have black powder and some obsolete calibres.
