About this policy

This policy explains when and why we collect personal information about our members, how we use it, how we keep it secure and your rights in relation to it.

We may collect, use and store your personal data, as described in this Data Protection Policy and as described when we collect data from you.

We reserve the right to amend this Data Protection Policy from time to time without prior notice.

We will always comply with the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 (the “Law”) when dealing with your personal data. Further details on the Law can be found at the website of the Channel Islands Data Protection Commissioner (www.gov.gg/dp). For the purposes of the Law, the Alderney Shooting Club will be “controller” of all personal data we hold about you.

Specific use and sharing of personal information

Your personal data may be used to notify the regulating authorities and club insurers when you join the club and for any appropriate notifications as required by law. In general, your personal data will only be used for the purposes of membership management and safety and your email and telephone numbers may be used for communication about news/work at the club/range closure, competition entries/results and other important notices etc.   Your personal data will not be passed to anyone else outside the club other than the relevant government authorities and our insurers and your email will only be given to someone outside the club with your permission.

We have three reasons for processing your data, which are:

  1. Processing is necessary for compliance with our legal and insurance obligations.
  2. Processing of your data is necessary for the administration of your membership contract.
  3. Processing of your data is necessary for certification and safety.

You give consent to the processing of your data for the specific purposes set out in this policy.

How we protect your personal data

  1. We will not transfer your personal data outside the EU without your consent.
  2. We have implemented the generally accepted standards of technology and operational security to protect personal data from loss, misuse, or unauthorised alteration or destruction.
  3. Please note however that where you transmitting information to us over the internet this can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
  4. The club will make every effort to ensure data is only shared with organisations that are ODPA compliant.
  5. In addition to the reasons stated below we may have to disclose your data where we have an inescapable legal obligation.
  6. We will notify you promptly in the event of any breach of your personal data which might expose you to serious risk.
